Rejected by Art Garfunkel

I saw Art Garfunkel after a show on his solo tour. He was left behind by his band and the limo. He screamed at his tour manager, exclaiming why did they leave me? I asked to shake his hand, but he refused because he said his hands were full. I was feeling rejected, but I wrote his Web site and they sent me his autograph but to be frank, I was afraid to ask him!

Is this a reliable source? If it isn´t, I doubt that it´s true.

So you want reliable.....here´s a couple of my Art G experiences:

During the 1995 concert in Münster, Germany Art stopped in the middle of "Bright Eyes" and said: "This is my song, please let me sing it. If you want to sing please go outside" to people singing along.

Before the Simon and Garfunkel concert in München, Germany this year (last month!) Art was heard to tell fans asking for autographs outside his hotel to "fuck off". When followed a few metres and asked again Art said "I am not giving you any fucking autigraphs." This wasn´t actually said....it was shouted.

These are all first hand experiences. So yes, I believe the article could very easily be genuine.

On a happier note, Art was more than happy to shake my hand and talk to me at the Royal Albert Hall concert last year.

I think everybody, even and especially celebrities feel under pressure sometimes and react differently than they may, on hindsight, wished to have acted.

I am sure that Art is a genuinely nice man and that occasional misbehaviour of this kind shouldn´t be judged too harshly. Sure other celebrities handle pressure a little better. Some do it worse. That´s the beauty of mankind.....we are all different.

The end.

Karen did have another experience where he refused to shake her hand, because his hands her full. He was giving autographs apparently.

Change Karen for Kathy...lol

Sorry it´s late...lol

I too have heard is a really nice guy, just as peeps have said about Paul.

I do agree with David that every celeb handles pressure in a different way. And to be honest, they are only human. I´ve done things or said things and wished later I hadn´t don´t or said as I´d done. How many of us have wished we´d got a time machine to undo stuff like Artie did.

And I can imagine that sometimes all you want to do is go home and relax or go and finish your shopping, rather than signing yet another autograph. Imagine it, what should have only taken 3 hours seems to have taken 6 because you keep getting stopped...I think I´d hit a point where I may loose my rag and unintentionally snap at someone.

Hugs

well I met him a lot of times and he always was very very kind ... but maybe as David said it could be his reaction because he was stressed and just wanted to go home. Nobody will be kind everytime, everybody reacts other ways if he/she feels stressed.

Then, they should change their job.

Change their job....?

What, because they lose their temper every now and then?

Good job David Beckham doesn´t stop playing football then. Because he´s missed a couple of penalties recently and got sent off once.

And maybe I shouldn´t be a flight attendant anymore because I spilled a drink the other week and turned up late for a flight once which caused a delay.

Be serious Nath. The guy can sing like a dream and entertains well. I don´t think he should lose his job for occasionally trowing his toys out of the pram.

I agree with David, everybody thinks that because of you learn a lot of money, you HAVE TO be happy all the day.
I´m sure it´s very cool being famous, and being stopped in the street...at the begining.
When you live during 30 years without having the possibilitie to be alone/quiet except when you´re at home...

I say : We realize our private life is very precious when we haven´t it anymore...just like the hapiness

What I mean is that ok, he can lose his temper from time to time because of stupid people or beaucse of the stress but he should never be insulting towards people who go to see him in concert, buy his albums and so, make him live ! I´m sorry but when you becomes a "star", as when you have a public job, there are certain things you should be aware of and so, certain things you must bare and beeing rude and insulting is not acceptable at all !!!

Tu te contredis...
"he can lose his temper" but "he can´t insult"...but insulting is a part of "losing his temper" I think
Because just not accepting to sign autograph is not losing his temper, it would just be "not kind".
And I think that every star has, at least one time, refused to sign autographs (even God PS ;)).

The only thing I really don´t understand is the "don´t sing while I´m doing"...

Yes that was very strange. Maybe he had had a fight with Kim just before....? Or maybe he just gets touchy when somebody else sings HIS only hit!

What I mean is that of course, you can get very angry and "lose your temper" but in that case, people around shouldn´t pay for that and you must be able to manage with this state and with your bad mood mainly when you are a "star" like Mr Garfunkel and ok, he can always refuse to sign autographs but screaming to people coming to his concert that they should shut their mouth because it´s *his* song, and tell his fans to fuck off just because they want an autograph, sorry but for sure it´s much more than not beeing kind for me !
