ha

and I really was hopping that the news about Paul recording a new album make any sense, and he would tour in the summer. Stupid me.

When do I get any exciting news for me?

Believe me Bodo,
I would also Love to get a new PS album with all new songs and a solo tour. However, at least there is some PS activity this spring/summer! I guess I´ll take whatever I can get - it´s always nice to hear any of his songs live as well. Also, I´m excited about seeing this version of the band.

I am so tired as being listed as
guest on here, I may as well give
up, hope no one has to change their
IP address because your Old one will
stay right on there. Most forums have
a place that is clearly visable.

I think you have to stay optimistic Bodo. The past years Paul toured for about a month at the time so I hope the S&G tour will stop at the end of May. We only heard one rumor so far about a new album with Phil Ramone, I guess it will take a while till we hear more about it, I don´t see a solo tour happening this summer. There were also rumors about bringing The Capeman back in concert form, maybe we see Paul there this summer. I expect a new album at the earliest in the autumn or even next spring.

Yes, I think we have to wait. Things become slower now :)
Well, I thought if Phil Ramone was already working now with Paul, the album could also be finished early in the summer.
Best time to release it: during the S&G tour ;)

Good idea, Paul should throw in a couple of new songs in his solo set and release the album during the S&G tour, he would reach a lot of people and show them he doesn´t need Garfunkel ;-)

Was there also not a rumor about a tour of S&G in Europe this summer, UK or Dublin. I´ve thought i´ve read it here somewhere. Do you think this is out of the question??

There will be no new songs during the S&G tour I assume.

Most people that go to these shows pay big bucks to hear the Old tunes. Period.

They are not interested in new songs, and are likely not to have paid any attention to these artists since Graceland.

I would be surprised if Paul releases something this year (album).

well, Paul sang new song in 1981 CP reunion-and they need resting time for their voices and bodies, so will likely do solo acts in my opinion-and as said earlier, good place to market new songs-

Just had a look at Art´s solo concert schedule and saw he cancelled 3 shows, read at the site of Music Hall, Portsmouth it was cancelled because Art is having laryngitis. There are a few solo shows scheduled in June and July so I don´t think there is much chance they will tour Europe.

well, maybe no new songs-the s&g site quotes "For the upcoming shows Simon & Garfunkel will perform a set of timeless songs from their catalog, in addition to highlights from Paul & Art´s solo careers"-I guess a new song is not a highlight.

I would get a bit realistic. I cannot ever see another PS solo album or tour. Just be grateful that approaching 70 years of age the guy is still performing at all.
Remember before Graceland he had all but "retired".

Can´t remember he retired before Graceland.
Released H&B, toured as S&G till 1984, and in 1985 he recorded Graceland.

Are you sure S&G toured in 1984? From my memory the toured 1982 & 83.

I asked him if he would do another solo acoustic tour after the Brainwave event at the Rubin Museum, NYC a year or so ago and he joked/laughed "that´s too much work!!" It was nice to see him in such a friendly and talkative mood anyways!

Also, he kindly signed my Hearts And Bones CD that evening, personalizing the signature with my name as well. That meant so much to me as Hearts and Bones is one of my favorite PS albums.

With what we have heard so far in terms of ´new songs´, an acoustic tour would make sense.

Although I don´t know if we would still need a few members of his band with him, mainly because he has refered a lot to the fact that his hability to play is limited when he sings.

An acoustic tour would be really enjoyable. I wouldn´t take his comment to me at the Rubin Museum to mean that he will never do an acoustic tour. Back in 1986, shortly after his SNL TV appearance with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, I met him in front of the Dakota and asked him if he was planning on taking "Graceland" on tour. He responded something like, "no, I´m going to take a LONG vacation..." One year later, I was back in NYC seeing the Graceland tour at Radio City Music Hall. I guess you never know! :)

No tour with Graceland. LOL !!!

I guess at that point, he had not anticipated the huge success of the album.

Yep, unfortunately guys, I think we have learnt over the years that Simon´s statements are not reliable in any way, and that he changes his mind quickly !

I put "all but retired." It was a statement made by PS before Graceland was made. Some of us have knowledge from way back believe it or not - sometimes it´s worth listening to and not necessary to try and put down / contradict all of the time.

I considered it, until I saw the CT and NJ dates. I probably will go to at least Atlantic City. Hopefully they will add some more east coast dates as well.
