Paul Simon, a true man of the people, completed his stint at Hammersmith Odeon (London) by laying out a 1.000 pounds or more for a round of drinks for his audience. He stopped the show just before the interval to ask if there were any requests.

´Yeah´, shouted a wag. ´Buy me a drink.´

´Sure´, said Paul, ´I`ll buy you ALL a drink.´

The bar during the interval was utter chaos, and Simon received a standing ovation when he returned for the second half.
