He said he had completed two songs. But he has 5 songs more or less finished.Hopes to have finished recording them by the end of the year.He may release them as an album or download. Not sure yet. This was posted on AMPS by a member who attended the lectures.

Another review. This has a photo of the picture presented to Paul at the end of the concert on Tuesday. It was of the Irish writer James Joyce playing a guitar.

Yeats Heaney now Joyce ! This man needs to do an album based on Irish music AND literature soon. Ulysses would certainly be a great source of simonesque lyrics

Since 2002 or so he says that he wants not to make a new album...just release songs.
but I do not think that this is a good idea.
In the end only an album is something that will be remembered and has some constance.

BTW: What is with that family album now? Didn't we once hear that he and his wife already recorded together in the studio? And now? Was that only for the Steve Martin & Brickell album...with Paul on some backbround instrument?

I agree that albums are important. However, I am disappointed that yet another compilation album is being released, distilling the larger box into a single disc. Maybe the "family album" will be put out, one song at a time, on still more compilation albums, so that each one can claim to have some "previously unreleased" material. As many of you know I am a very long time Paul Simon fan (since the 1960s), but I find so many re-issues and re-compilations to be somewhat off-putting.

I ignore all the re-releases since many years now...
But (beside having the Graceland and ROTS LP) I started with a S&G compilation and the 1964-1993 2 CD version.
