kann mir irgendjemand den text von The Obvious Child deuten.
ich kann zwar einiges übersetzen, aber bekommen keinen richtigen sinn rein.
gibt es von dem text eine übersetzung? wäre schön, denn the obvious child ist eines meiner lieblingsongs von paul..
was meint paul mit "why deny the obvious child" & "the cross is in the ballpark"?
ist ballpark nicht ein baseballfeld??

Muß ich erst wieder raussuchen, weil ich kann mich gar nicht mehr daran erinnern. Nur soviel dass ballpark schon ein baseballfeld ist, und da Paul Baseball sehr gerne mag ist es sozusagen wie eine Religion für Ihn (ist wohl ein wenig übertrieben) Aber so ist erklärt worden warum das Kreuz im Baseballfeld ist... |

| in an interview with songtalk, i believe, paul explains that the "cross"
is the biblical allusion to the burdens we all have to carry in our lives.
the fact that it is in the "ballpark" means that we are able to deal with
it. "the cross is in the ballpark" means we can deal with the burdens we
are given. |

| I think a religious interpretation makes some sense, especially when one
considers the line: "Some people say the sky is just the sky, But I say `Why
deny The Obvious Child..." The "sky" being a reference to the spiritual or
heavenly realm.

| In einen Interview mit der Zeitschrift Q, gab Paule mal folgendes Statement:
"I don´t know that the "cross in the ballpark" line can bear the weight of too much scrutiny. I´ve explained what I thought it was about. I have my doubts now about using it twice but I think I was taken by the image when I wrote it. It was a really strong and vivid image, so I returned to it, which was the style I was working in then -- reca- pitulation of some early thought in the later part of the song. But when I reviewed it recently, I thought I should have used it just once and then there would have been less fuss about it. But it is a nice image, a very modern, Papal kind of image -- Jimmy Swaggart or Billy Graham or the Prince´s Trust, all of those mass quasi-religious or genuinely religious gatherings that are held in pagan places, stadiums.
