`The Paul Simon Song Book' Apparently, Paul Simon has had a change of heart. On March 23, "The Paul Simon Song Book" is going to be released on CD. The album was originally released overseas in 1965 but Simon was so dissatisfied with it that he stopped the recordings from being released in the United States, making the album a very rare find. I was lucky enough to come across a copy of it through a friend. I can't figure out why he didn't want this music released when he first recorded it. The album is a masterpiece. It is Paul Simon and his guitar, alone and acoustic. The album covers songs he would also record with Art Garfunkel, some on their first release together, but most on future albums. The album has a real Bob Dylan-style sound to it as it is really raw and Simon sings different lyrics to some of the songs than what we are familiar with. I can't help but wonder if Paul Simon would have been even bigger if he were to have continued recording in this style rather than to team with Garfunkel. It doesn't really matter, but if you are a Paul Simon or Simon and Garfunkel fan, be sure to check it out.
