Paul played American Tune at induction

On Saturday night Paul Simon played his 1973 hit American Tune during his induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The induction ceremony took place in Sanders Theater at Harvard University.

Founded in 1780, the Cambridge, Mass. based academy is one of the country´s oldest learned societies. Its membership includes more than 250 Nobel laureates, some 100 Pulitzer Prize winners and many of the world´s most celebrated artists and performers.

It is nice to see Paul inducted into so many honorable institutions, but did anyone ever realize that Paul Simon has no star on the Walk of fame in Hollywood ? Even musicians from outside the states have their own star on that street...

Use this link to listen to the archive of one of my past 3-hour radio broadcasts consisting entirely of Paul Simon cover songs (all written by Paul and performed by someone else).

Michael Elam hosts a radio show on Maui´s own listener-supported Mana´o Radio KEAO-LP 91.5 FM every Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. During this broadcast on April 25, 2011 Mike played many great Paul Simon songs all performed by other artists. From Ray Charles to Peter & Gordon to Alison Krauss to The Ventures to Herbie Hancock and beyond, it was an evening of Simon & Garfunkel/Paul Simon favorites unlike any you’ve ever heard.
