Paul Simon did a funny performance with Tracy Morgan and Chris Rock at Comedy Central´s Night of Too Many Stars benefit in New York that raised funds for Autism education. This event took place on October 2nd, 2010 and will air on October 21, 2010 on Comedy Central. They did a lyrically-mangled version of Scarborough Fair. In the meantime you can look at some small pictures of the event.

´So beautiful or so what,´ new album title

Paul Simons next album will be named ´So beautiful or So what,´ according to a new york times article.

It is also written that the album will be released in early 2011, which could be January, but with respect to Pauls fast lifestyle could also be May or June.

Paul reviewed the new book by Stephen Sondheim in the NY times, an interesting detail was that Paul wrote: ´After reading “Finishing the Hat,” I felt as if I had taken a master class in how to write a musical.
Let´s not speculate about another musical by Paul Simon now.

This year Paul Simon is trying to break the year record of black-tie gala dinners (Sting still holds this record with 38 galas a year) - so hold your thumbs for him. ,-)

Bette Midler and Paul sang The Boxer

Bette Midler hosted her annuala gala to benefit the New York Restoration Project on October 29 this year at the Waldorf-Astoria in NY. Guests included John Kerry, John McEnroe & Patty Smyth.

Paul sang a small accoustic set including many S&G hits. He started with Loves me like a rock which he dedicated to John Kerry. He changed the lyrics to: If I was the Senator of Massachusetts.
In the end Bette Midler joined him for singin The Boxer.

Behind this story is maybe more than what it might look like. Paul recorded the song ´Gone at last´ together with Bette Midler in 1975. But when the album was released, Bette´s vocals got replaced by Phoebe Snow´s. Bette said she never knew the reason why, Paul said it was an artistical decission. Some sources say that Paul and Bette had a very close relationship in 1975, and when the relationship went sour, Paul took Bette off the track out of spite.

So Paul and Bette might have overcome their problems after many years, and decided to do a duet on The Boxer this night.
